Blockfall

A moment of Blockfall gameplay

A short advert, then you play.

How to play

The goal

Slide and turn the falling shapes so they fill whole rows across the well. A full row clears and pays. When a new shape has nowhere to land you top out: that costs one life, the top of the well is cleared, and you keep the score you have. You get five lives. The well is 9 columns wide and 16 rows deep, and the shapes fall faster at every stage.

What scores

Clearing a row pays, and clearing more than one row with a single shape pays much more than the same rows cleared one at a time. Clear on consecutive shapes and each clear in the chain pays a bonus on top; a shape that clears nothing breaks the chain. Dropping a shape fast pays a little per row it falls, so a hard drop is worth more than waiting. Later stages multiply everything you score. Topping out pays nothing and clears nothing towards a stage, so a life is only worth what you do with it. After a few minutes a floor of bedrock starts rising from the bottom, one row at a time, and it never stops — so no run lasts forever, and the well you are playing in keeps getting shallower. Bedrock that has taken the whole well ends the run whatever lives are left, because there is nowhere to put a shape. Restarting or reloading mid-run ends it, and a spent entry does not come back. Leaving the tab pauses you; the controls come back released.
