Serpent

A short advert, then you play.
How to play
The goal
Steer a growing serpent around a 24 by 15 grid. Eat the food, grow longer, and never run into the wall or into your own body. You get five lives, and the serpent moves faster at every stage.
What scores
Every piece of food pays, and it pays more at the faster stages — so a long run is worth more per bite than a slow start. At the end of the run you are paid again for the greatest length you ever reached, so growth counts even if you lose it. Hitting the wall or your own body costs a life and restarts the serpent short; losing your last life ends the run. You also have a hunger clock: go too long without food and you starve, which costs a life the same way a crash does. After a few minutes the Famine sets in and that clock keeps shortening, so no run goes on forever and there is no way to play safe by circling. Filling the whole grid pays a large bonus and ends the run as a win. Restarting or reloading mid-run ends it, and a spent entry does not come back. Leaving the tab pauses you; the controls come back released.
