Shatter Belt

A short advert, then you play.
How to play
The goal
Break up the rock belt drifting through your field without being hit by it. The screen wraps at every edge, and your ship keeps its momentum after you stop thrusting. The rest of the belt keeps arriving: a band of rubble thickens at one edge of the field while you break nothing, and when it is full it sheds a large rock straight down your own row or column. Every rock and every saucer you break pushes that band back, so the answer to it is to keep shooting. You get five lives. Bank 1,750 points and one lost life comes back — once a run. Clear the belt and a heavier one arrives.
What scores
Every rock pays, and the small pieces pay more than the big ones — but a big rock splits into faster small ones when you shoot it, so a full clear takes more shots than it looks. The saucers that wander in pay more again, and the small saucer aims at you. Clearing a wave pays a bonus that shrinks the longer the wave takes, so hiding from the last rock costs you score rather than saving it. Hyperspace jumps you somewhere else on the field and is the only way out of a corner, but it can destroy your ship on arrival, so it is a last resort and not a plan. Being hit costs a life, and losing your last one ends the run with what you banked. Restarting or reloading mid-run ends it, and a spent entry does not come back. Leaving the tab pauses you; the controls come back released.
